She was born in Famagusta. After the 1974 Turkish

military invasion in Cyprus, she had to leave here hometown and settle in Limassol, where she is now working at a photographic studio.

 

She has been involved in the art of photography since her school days in Famagusta. She is still an active member and member of the board of the Cyprus Photographic Society Limassol Branch since 1984.She has participated in national and international photographic competitions and exhibitions, obtaining many awards and honourable mentions.

 

Her favourite subjects are taken from daily life, the man, the sea and the nature of Cyprus, as well as from her trips abroad. She uses black and white, color and slide film.

 

In 1998, she exhibited, for the first time in public, a collection of 70 photographs in black and white, many of them taken on infrared film, which she especially likes to use. The exhibition was a huge success.

 

In 1999 she obtained the EFIAP (Excellence FIAP) distinction, which is granted by the international Federation of Photographic Art (FEDERATION INTERNATIONAL DE L’ART PHOTOGRAPHIQUE.) She is the first woman in Cyprus and Greece granted this title.

 

In 2003 a book was published by Andreas Neocleous containing 120 photographs of Limassol, photographed by Erato Kantouna and poems by different writers/ poets, entitled “LIMASSOL, The Ballad of my town.”
